Every day you are introduced to opportunities of choice in self-responsibility. You have the gift of choice in your life. That gift extends into your environment – your home, your workplace, and your friendships. Everywhere you look you have the gift of responsibility to share with others.

So many people see responsibility as a chore or a burden…it is not these. Responsibility is the gift you have chosen as a soul. So it appears on many levels of your life. What do we mean? As a soul incarnate, you made conscious decisions before moving through the life canal into your present incarnation. You made conscious decisions, first with yourself, and then secondly with those whom you would be in relationship.

The responsibility of relationship agreements is in play during all the moments of your life. Your relationship with yourself shows up as you are presented with the choices of what you know as right and wrong. For us, these are really choices of better and best decisions for any situation because there are never wrong choices, only choices that create more pain than others. Always, the decisions are measured by whether the choice creates hurt or pain to either yourself or another. Are you being kind? This should be the measurement for yourself as you are presented with a choice.

So many times this simple question can be asked concerning anything you are choosing for yourself. Ask yourself, "Am I being kind to myself by choosing to consume a food or substance that I know will make me feel ill?" "Am I being kind to myself when I re-engage with a person from my past that has always created doubt about who I am, or what I'm doing with my life?" Any act during your day can come up for this simple question of personal kindness. Because, the answer is always whether the choice you have made is connected to the experience of loving the self. In return, you may ask yourself, "Is this other person being kind, when he or she is angry and being inconsiderate?" Each time, you have the opportunity to pause inside the situation and reconsider what is happening and whether it is in the highest good to recreate the moment.

"Am I being kind?" then connects to each being you are in contact with. This includes your family and friends, but also the animals, the plants, the waterways, the oceans, the land and the air. All of the earth is a living being that depends upon your awakened-ness to care for it. Even when a friend doesn’t remember the attitude of kindness, it becomes even more your responsibility to practice kindness in return so that you may help them to remember to conscious being that they are also.

So, personal responsibility is an act of conscious kindness and the way you continue to remember who you really are… a loving, conscious, light-being who is here to interact with all other light-beings in a state of kindness and acts of love.
